Mentawai Surftrip

Mentawai Surftrip
Waves weren´t what we expected but it was just beautiful

When we walked through Poppies 2 in Bali we got real surprised by seeing some guys we had met a year ago in Puerto Escondido ( Mexico).
They tald us that they were going to the Mentawis, but not on a boat trip or to a surf camp.....just on land in order to safe money and make it an even cooler experience.

So we joined them and flew to Pdang in Sumatra

from here we had to take a boat which was kind of an unconfortable part of the trip. We didn´t mange to get a cabine neather a bed.
So we had to stay on the chairs, but as we didn´t talk any indo people were trying to get us away from them to sit themselfs, though we arrived about 5 hours before the departure of the boat.
After arguing with signs for ages we finaley manged to keep the two seets and even the space infront of them for our feet as people had tryed to put there matreces on the gap between our seets and the ones infront of us.
Well everybody was eating and throwing rubish on the ground and spitting on it.....and smoking those smelli indo cigarettes u really have to get used to.
Why didn´t we go on the deck.....well it was raining, so we really had to stay down there.
As we were real tyred we tryed to find a place were ever, i slept on the dirty floor next to a rabit in a cage and an old man who had to spit every 15 minutes, one of those yellow brown ones grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
When we arrived in a kind of paradise for us vesterners, our first cultural shock was that all the rubish from the ship was just throw into the cristal blue water........

waiting to get picked up by our boat drivers

Finally we got picket up to be brought to paradise
our own littel island

when waves were small

Going snorkling

Unfortunately we didn´t get the swells we expected, but at least it wasn´t crowded, as we were at the beginning of the rainy season. warm up
driving to the different sports

Probably one of the best things we all ever did was going real deap into the jungle.
We were driving about 2 hours through the river on the island of Siberut and than took some canals in a smaller boat than the one we were used to as the river got real narrow sometimes.
When we stoped we thought is that it? but now we had to walk another 2 hours through the jungel with mud almost up to our knees, walking over rivers on trunks....and it even rained and those trunks got so slippy that we had to crowl over them.hahaha
Well after walking we couldn´t belive that we arrived at the jungle kindergarden.
Two girls in theris mid 20s and about six kids in a wooden house next to a river suraoundet by animals (alive) and dead once hanging all over the sealing to decorate. We were told that the rest of the indiginus were hunting real deep in the jungle and would take days to come back. before after, as decoration

We had bought some rice and potatos as well as noodels on the bigger island but we needed some fish as well.
So we went fishing, but actually didn´t get that lucky so we just went to a fisher boat and bought some.
